Big news from the Swedish Riksdag The approval of โA more flexible rental marketโ (CU31) is a monumental shift for the corporate relocation landscape in Sweden.
The new rules are taking effect on June 11th, making it easier for work permit holders and some other highly qualified groups to obtain permanent residence permits.
The decision to phase out permanent residence permits will however have a negative impact on some work permit holders and their family members, namely those applying for long term residence status. The current rule to automatically grant a permanent residence permit to persons obtaining long term residence will be removed. The long-term residence status itself will however remain.
