In April of last year she got the job and by the end of July she and her husband and their two children moved to a new country.
- I contacted Alfa Quality Moving as soon as I got the job, Sofia says. They booked a time for a survey. The surveyor measured the volume of the things we were going to take and also how many boxes would be used. They ware thorough and professional and we got great help and service. Alfa Quality Moving answered all our questions and also gave us information about customs and other documentation needed.
The shipping took eight weeks. When the family arrived in Shanghai they lived in a temporary accommodation before they got a permanent residence two months later.
- The move went seamless and the staff knew what they were doing, says Sofia. Everything turned out as we expected even thou it took us a bit longer than planned to find a permanent residence.
Sofia describes Shanghai as an exciting city easy to live in and filled of stuff to do. A lot of Swedes live in the city and it’s easy to contact families in similar situation as we’re in.
Sofia’s best moving tip’s
Take the opportunity
- It’s a fun and exciting opportunity, both private and professional and it’s actually easier than you think. The world is shrinking when we have the possibility thanks to modern equipment to keep in contact with family and friends at home. It makes you think you’re not so far from home.
Don’t bring too much stuff
- You will surely buy a lot of new stuff when you have moved so only take the essentials with you in the move. Toys for the children and books in Swedish can be good to bring from home, Sofia says.
Take the chance to learn a new language!
- It’s easier to adapt to everyday life if you learn the local language. Chinese is a very difficult language, but take advantage of being in the country to learn the language.
